Bunbury Lyric Theatre
The New Lyric Theatre is a comfortable, 200 seat, airconditioned theatre with full facilities, including orchestra pit, three dressing rooms, green room, licensed bar, modern foyer and kitchen, rehearsal studio, an extensive wardrobe, all technical facilities, and toilets, including disability rails and access ramp.

Here, thousands of people have been entertained and hundreds given the opportunity to express themselves in theatrical endeavours.
From humble beginnings
The New Lyric Theatre was founded in 1960 by a group of friends who enjoyed singing together and musical theatre.
It has survived by producing first-class live entertainment in Bunbury, using local talent and expertise. A few of our young people have gone on to perform at a professional level.
More than 130 shows have been produced, the first being “The Desert Song” in 1960 at the Railway Institute in Wittenoom Street. The first show produced the princely profit of ONE POUND ($2).

With the foresight and hard work of the Founding Members, subsequent committees and member, the group now owns the building and operates the NEW LYRIC THEATRE in Bourke Street – home of the Bunbury Musical Comedy Group.
Bunbury Musical Comedy Group
-
The theatre is run solely by volunteers and is guided by a committee of dedicated members.
-
There are also valuable members who contribute to the running of the group in many other areas such as props, set building, set painting, costumes, promotions, musical direction and show directors and general maintenance.
-
The aim of the group is to promote dramatic art, music, musical theatre, and musical comedy. To promote, extend, develop, cultivate, and foster drama and music in all its forms.
